Union City, NJ - Broken Motorsports.
This weekend was full of hard work on the car in preparation for Rally Tennessee May 23-24th , www.rallytennessee.com .
Thursday evening, we had a chance to reroute a few electricals and install our center console with HVAC controls. The blower box still needs to be modified to fit inside the cage in order to work and be able to blow heat in the fall and AC for the hotter months.
Saturday, two of our sponsors were at hand with providing the tuning for the car. Dave Brown of Metric Subaru Performance Tuning, www.mspt.net, provided the tune, while the crew at Hudson Historics, www.hudsonshistorics.com, provided the Mustang Dyno and the time. After some careful tuning, we were able to achieve 183 whp and 207 wtq on 93 octane!
HH's Tony and Gordon also took the time to assess our planned straight pipe exhaust which they will be fabricating for us.
Sunday, brought on a few of our crew for some additional help. Brent, Erika, Leo and Roman aided us in pulling the transmission to fix our speedo gear/VSS issue, removal and adjustment of our DMS 50's, and general clean up on the car.
The suspension was pulled in order to inspect, clean and set our spring heights correctly for the event. Unfortunately, this is something we did not have a chance to do for Rally NY. Once everything was set they were reinstalled so we can move the car off the lift.
Transmission is removed and ready to be pulled apart to solve our issue with the vehicle speed being read by our ecu. The mechanical speedo gear inside the trans failed prior to Rally NY and was limiting us to only 4500rpm for much of the event. We were only able to reset the ecu during service and it would take only 4.2 miles for the CEL to come on and limit the motor. While the transmission is apart we will inspect the box thoroughly to ensure reliability for Rally Tennessee.
With the car up on the lift we had a chance to really clean the underside of the car after all the mud and dirt that had been washed onto the stages during the horrible weather at Rally NY. There was also lots of mud and rocks stuck to the inside of the wheels that needed to be cleaned out. With 5-10 pounds of dirt of the car we should be much faster and smoother on the stages.
