Tanner Foust has dominated Rallycross in North America in his Rockstar/Etnies Ford Fiesta by taking two outright wins and two podium finishes on the 2010 RallyCar U.S. Rallycross series last fall in addition to nabbing up two Gold medals in X Games rally events. The FIA World Rally Championship underlined its huge public appeal when it brought the streets of the Portuguese capital Lisbon to a standstill for the opening stage of Vodafone Rally de Portugal this afternoon (Thursday).

An estimated 40,000 fans flocked to Belem, the riverside area of Lisbon south west of the city centre, where a temporary 3.27-kilometre course had been constructed around the Belem cultural area, which includes the historic Jeronimos Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. more...

Los Angeles, CA, USA -- Racing driver and TV host Tanner Foust will vie for the win in his Rockstar Energy Drink Ford Fiesta at the Global RallyCross Championship season-opener, "The Revolution," March 25-26 at Irwindale Speedway, outside of Los Angeles.

Foust, who earned a pair of gold medals at the 2010 X Games competitions and finished on the podium at all three US rallycross competitions late last year, is one of the favorites to win the event. more...

On the Monday before WRC Portugal, Monster World Rally Team driver Ken Block and co-driver Alex Gelsomino had a very encouraging test session near Tavari, Portugal. The pair logged 100 test kilometers over stages that highlighted both the twisty nature of Portugal’s terrain as well as the flat-out speed that some contain. M-Sport Stobart Ford’s Matthew Wilson took Porto FC Manager André Villas-Boas for a thrilling ride at Vodafone Rally de Portugal’s Shakedown this afternoon.

Britain’s Wilson and co-driver Scott Martin did three laps of a 3 km test loop at Loule before Villas-Boas replaced Martin in their Ford Fiesta RS World Rally Car.

A host of local media and TV crews were there to interview Villas-Boas where he was accompanied by FIA Vice President and President of the Portuguese Automobile Club, Carlos Barbosa. more...

The FERM Power Tools World Rally Team returns to Europe for the third round of the FIA World Rally Championship this week, the Vodafone Rally de Portugal. Dennis Kuipers and Frédéric Miclotte hope to benefit from their previous experiences on the gravel roads in the Algarve.
